Family Values (Sitcom)
starring Rob Riggle
A new sitcom from director Mike Shapiro
and writer/creator Rob Kutner
Celebrated author, TV pundit, and self-appointed “Values-ologist” Theo Gladdings is the only man who can keep America from sliding into total decline – just ask Theo. Wherever the Liberals lurk, corrupting unsuspecting school children, Theo is there bullying from his pulpit. Wherever a non-traditional family is forming, or a flag is being burned, Theo is on the scene (or on the tube, as America’s Beloved Blowhard). In fact, the only place you won’t find Theo these days is at home – where razor-sharp daughter THERESA (13) struggles to be taken seriously, neurotic son MARTY (15) panics under the mantle of Heir Apparent, and once-devoted wife CINDY is chafing under Theo's Just-Say-No-to-Fun-damentalism.
It all comes to a head on the biggest day of Theo's career. Just as the President is about to name him "Values Czar," Cindy walks out on Theo – in front of a national television audience – leaving him with two kids and not a single clue. He’ll have to navigate home-making, career, and the strange world of “second bachelorhood,” with only his mercenary publicist, DESIREE, and bohemian single-mom neighbor LIBBY to rely on.
ROB RIGGLE (The Daily Show, Saturday Night Live) stars as Theo, the man with a heart of gold surrounded by an electrified fence. The show is directed by MIKE SHAPIRO and was written & created by ROB KUTNER.
A family comedy with a timely political edge, FAMILY VALUES also features TOM SHILLUE (Comedy Central Presents), ROB DEVANEY(Brian De Palma’s Redacted), JULIA MURNEY (starring in Wicked on Broadway), and LORI HAMMEL (Mamma Mia, Forbidden Broadway). Consulting Producer MARY EGAN CALLAHAN, who also cast the show, co-created the 2006 New York Television Festival winning entry, Split the Difference.
